Samina Hasan was born in India, grew up in Pakistan, and has spent a part of her childhood and most of her adult life in the US. She holds an MFA, and her paintings have found their way into private collections around the world. She has returned to making art after a long hiatus. During this period she moved from Southern California to the Bay Area, where she has now lived for over two decades. The themes in her recent work explore spaces that we inhabit, spaces that inhabit us, and the way they interact to create something new. Each stroke, scrape, layer, or line in her work is an effort to understand the stories that we constantly weave, encounter, and leave behind in our spaces and vice versa.
